UAE weather alert: Rain, strong winds and blowing dust forecast today

The UAE's National Centre of Meteorology has issued an alert predicting convective cloud formation, rainfall, and strong winds across certain parts of the country on Thursday. This weather system is expected to impact some eastern and southern regions between 2pm and 8pm, according to the NCM. The downpours may generate downdrafts that stir up dust and sand, leading to reduced visibility in the affected zones.

The unsettled weather is anticipated to persist on Friday, when the skies will be fair or partly cloudy, accompanied by another possibility of convective clouds and afternoon rain in eastern and southern areas. Winds may gust up to 40 km/h during this period, causing blowing dust and increasing humidity overnight, potentially resulting in mist over some coastal and inland locations early on Saturday.

On Saturday, the region could encounter additional afternoon rain in the eastern areas, coupled with a rise in temperatures. Humid conditions are expected to linger overnight, with a chance of mist forming over certain coastal areas in the early hours of Sunday. The weather on Sunday and Monday is forecast to be fair to partly cloudy, although convective clouds may develop over eastern regions in the afternoon.

Wind speeds are expected to remain at 35 km/h on both days, while seas are projected to stay relatively calm in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
