Stephen A. Smith has some words for Democrats as he makes his 2028 plans clear

Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith, known for his fiery commentary on cable TV, has made it clear he is not interested in politics, specifically not running for president in 2028. In an interview with POLITICO, Smith reaffirmed his stance on the matter, stating that announcing a run would result in him being removed from his broadcasting duties. He added that he has dedicated his career to his work and would not relinquish that.

However, Smith did not shy away from discussing politics, particularly regarding Democrats. He suggested that Democrats should exclude Democratic Socialists of America and moderate voices, welcoming only those who adhere strictly to the party's ideology. He criticized Democrats' association with progressive figures, including Hasan Piker, warning that such alignments would come back to haunt the party.

Smith appeared to have a more positive outlook on Republicans, praising President Donald Trump for his understanding of the electorate's desire for political change. He endorsed Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as the top Democratic prospect for 2028, citing Shapiro's superior record. Maryland Governor Wes Moore was also mentioned, but Smith found the election of Moore complicated due to Barack Obama's recent presidency.

On the Republican side, Smith dismissed media figure Tucker Carlson, believing he lacked the support needed to secure the nomination. He favored Secretary of State Marco Rubio over Vice President JD Vance, arguing that Rubio is more authentic and better suited for the role. Smith even hinted that he might vote for Rubio if the opportunity arises, depending on the candidate's profile on the left.
