Tough new DJI Osmo 360 II camera can be frozen, dunked, ridden hard and more

DJI, the leading drone and action camera manufacturer, has unveiled the Osmo 360 II, a revolutionary 360° camera packed with cutting-edge features. Among its most notable attributes is an impressive 1-Inch 8K/60fps sensor, coupled with durable and replaceable lenses, and AI-powered algorithms designed to minimize noise during low-light and nighttime shoots.

The Osmo 360 II boasts advanced square HDR image sensors, increasing sensor utilization by 25% which results in lower power consumption and superior low-noise shots in challenging lighting conditions. In addition, the camera’s dynamic range has been expanded to 14.5 stops, effectively doubling the brightness range.

For high-speed action footage, the camera’s large 2.4 μm pixels, combined with a high-performance chip, ensures that every frame remains sharp and free of motion blur, even when recording at 8K/60fps. DJI suggests several potential applications for the Osmo 360 II, ranging from motorcycling and diving, to skiing, cycling, and everyday vlogging.

The camera is waterproof up to 10 meters and can withstand temperatures of -20°C (-4°F), making it an ideal choice for winter sports enthusiasts. To minimize any fumbling in freezing temperatures, users can start recording by performing a double-twist of the selfie stick.

Other noteworthy features include 120MP HDR 360° photos that capture accurate lighting and contrast, 16K 360° timelapse capturing time in stunning detail, and 64x Pano Slow Motion, allowing users to create smooth high-definition wraparound slow motion with a simple swing. The camera also supports 10-bit and D-Log M1 color profiles, expanding the palette of colors in every video format.
