Sidra Medicine, Aman Hospital sign MoU to advance healthcare collaboration

Doha, Qatar - Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, and Aman Hospital have joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance healthcare collaboration in Qatar. This partnership aims to identify opportunities that address the evolving healthcare needs of patients and families in the country.

The MoU outlines plans to integrate the strengths and resources of both organizations, enabling coordinated care pathways, professional development, and knowledge exchange. Prof. Ibrahim Janahi, Chief Medical Officer at Sidra Medicine, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating that it reflects a shared commitment to delivering patient-centered care. He highlighted the potential to create stronger care pathways, professional development opportunities, and expanded access to specialized services.

Caroline Kielty, Chief Nursing Officer at Aman Hospital, echoed these sentiments, stressing the significance of collaboration between healthcare institutions. She stated that by merging expertise, enhancing referral pathways, and fostering knowledge exchange, the partnership will improve continuity and quality of care, ultimately benefiting patients and families. Kielty believes that this collaboration will lead to enhanced patient outcomes, professional growth, and a more interconnected healthcare system.

A key aspect of the MoU is the establishment of stronger referral pathways between Sidra Medicine and Aman Hospital. This will facilitate timely patient transfers and ensure continuity of care while connecting patients with complementary specialized services offered by each institution.

Furthermore, the collaboration will provide opportunities for healthcare professionals to engage in clinical education, continuing professional development, simulation-based training, observerships, and other knowledge-sharing initiatives. The two institutions will also collaborate in laboratory and pathology services, as well as other specialized clinical and operational areas.

Notably, Aman Hospital was the first private hospital to sign a separate Cord Blood Banking agreement with Sidra Medicine. This agreement enables expectant parents delivering at Aman Hospital to store their baby's umbilical cord blood with Sidra Medicine. The collection and processing of the samples will be handled by Sidra Medicine at its specialized GMP facility, which houses Qatar's only Cord Blood Bank.
