Senators Visit Oburu Odinga at Nairobi Home Amid Health Concerns

On Thursday morning, top Senate leaders, including Chairperson Senator William Kisang and Vice-Chairperson Senator Beatrice Ogolla, visited ODM Party Leader Oburu Odinga at his residence in Nairobi. The purpose of the visit was to check on Oburu's health as he recuperates at home. In response, Odinga shared photos of the meeting on social media, explaining that the visit also offered a platform to discuss the Senate Energy Committee's activities.

He stated, "They paid a courtesy call to check on my wellbeing as I continue resting at home, leading to a productive update on the committee meetings, advancing our legislative agenda, and strengthening policy oversight in the energy sector. Collaborative leadership remains key to driving sustainable development and accountability across our nation."

The visit occurred days after Odinga dispelled rumors of his serious illness, stating on September 1, 2026, that he was doing well after a brief hospital visit for a general medical checkup. He informed Kenyans that there was no cause for concern regarding his hospital visit, emphasizing that illness is a natural part of life and assuring them that he would communicate if his health deteriorated.

Odinga's reassurance followed reports of his admission to a Nairobi hospital, which stated that he had been receiving medical care for several days due to severe fatigue. Family members had also considered sending him to the United Kingdom for specialized treatment. However, Odinga firmly denied these claims, asserting that his hospital visit was merely for a routine checkup with his physicians.
