Russia condemns Govt 'insinuations' over Leipzig incident

The Russian Embassy in Ireland has denounced Government insinuations about an attempted drone attack in Leipzig, claiming they were merely echoing EU conspiracy theories. Following yesterday's summoning of the Russian ambassador by the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Russian side categorically rejected allegations of a Russian connection to the incident.

Ambassador Yuriy Filatov emphasized that any claims of Russian involvement in hybrid activities across Europe are "absolutely unfounded and misplaced." The embassy asserted that these allegations are part of a strategy to bolster the case for a "Russian threat" to Europe, aimed at justifying the Western war effort against Russia and EU's increasing militarization.

The Russian Embassy concluded that anti-Russian escalation by European governments, including Ireland, does not contribute to resolving the conflict. This incident follows a series of attacks on critical infrastructure, including an overnight arson attack on German defense firm offices in Munich, targeting a Rohde & Schwarz construction site. Police arrested two Bulgarian suspects, but no injuries were reported.
