Rooney and Kate Mara had to speak in unison in ‘Bucking Fastard’

Rooney Mara and Kate Mara, sister actresses, appeared at the photo call for Werner Herzog's new film "Bucking Fastard" during the 83rd Venice Film Festival. The sisters portray Jean and Joan Holbrooke, who must speak in unison throughout the movie. Herzog, an 83-year-old filmmaker, had met real-life twin sisters 45 years ago, who also spoke in unison and were briefly famous in the 1980s due to a stalking case.

Although Herzog took inspiration from that story, he admitted that the script was entirely his own invention, written in just five days. The Maras' characters embark on a journey, both physically and spiritually, as they search for their identity in the world. Orlando Bloom stars as the man they both desire. The film is yet to be released in the United States.

Rooney Mara admitted that initially, playing the same character together seemed daunting, but they soon discovered the deep connection and history between them made it feel natural. Rooney added that they had a lot of fun making the film, with Kate Mara noting that speaking in unison often felt like singing a song.
