Relief As RAAMP Begins Construction of 50.73km Road in Katsina

Residents of Katsina State have welcomed the commencement of construction on a 50.73-kilometre rural road project by the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). The road will link communities in Katsina, Jibia, and Kaita Local Government Areas, enhancing transportation and boosting economic activities. The project, awarded to Mutual Commitment Company Limited in December 2025, is expected to be completed by August 2027.

Community members expressed relief over the project's start, highlighting its potential to improve access to healthcare, education, and other essential services. Farmer Salisu Sada emphasized that the road would alleviate difficulties in transporting agricultural produce and mitigate post-harvest losses.

Site Manager Shuaibu Yahaya assured residents that the company would complete the project on schedule, addressing concerns over a section of the road from Dutsen-Safe Low Cost to Yerkutungu Market. He also mentioned plans for precast concrete structures to ease the hardship faced by residents during rainy seasons.

Katsina State Project Coordinator Yusuf Yahaya emphasized that the project forms part of broader efforts to improve rural infrastructure and promote economic development. The initiative aims to support agricultural productivity, strengthen rural economies, create employment opportunities, and enhance the livelihoods of farming communities across Katsina State.
