Queiroz is back as Ghana coach after quitting role following World Cup exit

Carlos Queiroz has returned as the coach of the Ghana national football team just two months after resigning from the position following their exit from the World Cup in the last 32. The announcement came after Queiroz held discussions with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the country's Ministry of Sports and Recreation. The GFA expressed confidence in Queiroz's international experience, technical skills, and understanding of the Black Stars, positioning him as a strong candidate to guide the team moving forward.

At 73 years old, Queiroz boasts an impressive coaching resume, having led Portugal, Colombia, Iran, and Egypt both at the international level and Real Madrid as a club coach. His tenure with the Ghanaian team ended after a 1-0 loss to Colombia in the first knockout stage. Despite expressing a lack of "complete sporting satisfaction," Queiroz acknowledged that the team had earned "respect and credibility" in their absence.

Ghana was mired in a four-game losing streak when Queiroz took over in April, replacing the dismissed Otto Addo. The team drew with England during the World Cup group stage and advanced as one of the best third-place finishers, despite a loss to Croatia in their final group game.
