PAS Youth wants party to defend all existing seats in future elections

KOTA BHARU, Sept 3 — The PAS Youth has approved a motion urging the party to defend all its existing parliamentary and state seats in future elections, even when collaborating with other parties, according to Free Malaysia Today (FMT). Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar, the information chief of PAS Youth, stated that the motion, introduced by a Padang Terap delegate, was unanimously approved by over 800 delegates at the wing’s annual muktamar.

This is one of six motions PAS Youth will bring to the main PAS muktamar, which starts today. The main objective, as stated by Helmi Azhar, is to safeguard the trust and confidence of voters who elected PAS to represent them, and to serve as a core policy in seat negotiations with allies, as reported yesterday. The motion arises as there are rumors that PAS-led Perikatan Nasional (PN) might cooperate with Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming general election, especially after their alliance led to a win in the August 1 Negeri Sembilan polls.

However, formal discussions between the two coalitions have not yet commenced, and it remains unclear if BN and PN will form an agreement for the Melaka state election scheduled by February 2027.
