PAS must lead unity efforts, not be a ‘yes-man’, says Terengganu Youth rep

Terengganu PAS Youth representative Mukhlis Hasin has called on the party to spearhead unity efforts, rather than merely acting as a "yes-man" to PAS leadership. Speaking at the wing's 67th muktamar, Mukhlis emphasized that the youth wing should lead the pursuit of Malay-Muslim unity and cooperate with other political parties, as long as it does not compromise PAS’s core principles.

He warned against cowardice in defending one’s identity merely for the sake of unity, and against being afraid to defend the truth for the sake of unity. Mukhlis highlighted that the most significant challenge lies not just in uniting members at the grassroots level but in ensuring the party leadership is prepared to make the unity effort a success.

The Terengganu PAS Youth wing would back the party leadership's decision on seat allocations in the state if cooperation with Barisan Nasional-Umno materialises, per Mukhlis. The wing would also back the party's decisions on candidates and political unity, including any modifications to the electoral contest landscape. He even relayed a question posed by a fellow delegate: "If this unity happens, and Terengganu (PAS-PN) wins 40-0, would we give Umno a contest in Terengganu?"

Mukhlis concluded his remarks by stating that if unity is achieved, and PAS wins 40 out of 40 seats in Terengganu, would they grant Umno a contest in the state? He added that young people would work towards realizing this unity, from Besut to Kemaman, and that they would defend and ensure victory for whichever candidate is chosen by PAS.
