Over 30,000 runners confirmed for this year’s Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon

More than 30,000 participants have been confirmed for the upcoming Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon, set to take place on October 25th next year. The race organizers are implementing enhanced medical coverage, increased hydration points, improved recovery services, and new sustainability efforts to ensure a safe and environmentally responsible event.

Key upgrades include 20 hydration stations, mobile bicycle medics for rapid emergency response, dedicated muscle relief stations, and digital finisher certificates for every runner. The marathon will also see the distribution of 50,000 tree seedlings as part of a comprehensive sustainability initiative that includes waste segregation, recycling, reduced plastic use, responsible sourcing, and impact measurement.

David Mwindi, chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, emphasized the focus on improving the overall runner experience while elevating safety and sustainability standards. Athletics Kenya President, Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Jackson Tuwei highlighted the marathon's World Athletics Road Race Label, which validates the event's commitment to high standards and positions Kenya as a global leader in distance running.

Supported by the Standard Chartered Foundation, the marathon will offer various categories and community engagement programs to foster skills development and entrepreneurship among young people. The event will be held on October 25, 2026, along Nairobi's Southern Bypass, with warm-up runs scheduled in advance across the country.
