Open AI unveiled its latest artificial intelligence model, "Astra" (GPT-6), claiming it to be the most intelligent and well-tuned model in the world. The American software company introduced the new version on Thursday, presenting it as the most powerful model globally ahead of its planned stock market listing. The company, valued at $852 billion, aims to reclaim technological leadership from its rival Anthropic.

Open AI's president, Greg Brockman, spoke during a video call with journalists, mentioning a "massive leap in capabilities" and suggesting the model might have attained artificial general intelligence (AGI) – a level of artificial intelligence capable of understanding, learning, and executing tasks at a human intellectual level.

However, he acknowledged that AGI remains more of a "mission or spiritual concept" than a clearly defined technical milestone. The competition between the two leading AI firms has intensified this year, with Anthropic, founded by former Open AI employees, previously considered more technologically advanced and recently valued at up to $965 billion.

Initially, "Astra" will be available to a select group of companies to address security concerns before becoming accessible to a broader public in the coming days.
