Norah O’Donnell Returning to ‘CBS Mornings’ as Permanent Co-Host

Norah O'Donnell is set to return to "CBS Mornings" as a permanent co-host, joining Gayle King and Nate Burleson starting September 8. The move comes after a seven-year hiatus from the morning show, during which O'Donnell anchored "CBS Evening News." O'Donnell and King, a longtime colleague and former co-host, will rejoin the show following reports that King had concerns about O'Donnell's return.

However, a CBS source clarified that King was a "full-time partner" in the process of selecting a third co-host and was actively involved in the discussions. CBS News aims to strengthen its morning lineup and boost political coverage ahead of the midterm elections, with O'Donnell's addition bringing in valuable experience and a fresh perspective.

CBS News president Tom Cibrowski emphasized that the network is bringing its "best people" to the "field" and believes there is still potential for growth in morning television. O'Donnell's return is seen as a "homecoming" by the show's executive producer Jon Tower, who highlighted her strong chemistry and complementary perspectives with King and Burleson, making them a compelling team for navigating the news.
