Mumbai Congress Corporators To Inspect BMC Schools, Review Infrastructure & Education Quality

Mumbai's Congress corporators plan to conduct inspections of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools to evaluate infrastructure and educational quality. The initiative follows a nationwide campaign by the Cockroach Janata Party and a recent announcement by Maharashtra's government regarding a similar "chala shalet jauya" (let's go to school) drive.

Maharashtra's School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse initiated the statewide campaign to enhance cleanliness, drinking water facilities, educational quality, and student-centric environments in schools.

Ashraf Azmi, leader of the Congress group, has written to Additional Municipal Commissioner Prajakta Verma, requesting support for the inspections. Azmi emphasized the responsibility of elected representatives to assess the ground reality in municipal schools and ensure students receive appropriate facilities and quality education.

During the inspections, the Congress corporators will examine various aspects, including school building conditions, classroom and desk arrangements, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, safety measures, teacher availability, and the quality of education and teaching-learning environment. Additionally, they will review elements such as teacher-student ratios, availability of textbooks, uniforms, educational materials, libraries, laboratories, digital facilities, sports infrastructure, and other educational programs.

The inspections aim to provide a comprehensive assessment of the current state of BMC schools, enabling the corporators to address any shortcomings and work towards improving the overall educational environment for students.
