Motorcyclist injured by cable dangling from MRT viaduct

Early this morning, a motorcyclist was injured and several vehicles suffered damage after a grounding cable fell from an MRT viaduct near Petaling Jaya. The incident occurred between the Sri Raya and Bandar Tun Hussein Onn MRT stations. Rapid KL, the operator of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, stated that the grounding cable had been cut, suggesting the possibility of cable theft.

Upon receiving reports about the incident, Rapid KL dispatched its technical team to the scene to carry out inspections and implement immediate measures to ensure the safety of road users. The cable was removed to prevent any further hazards. Initial investigations confirmed that the structure of the MRT viaduct and the train operating systems were not compromised by the incident.

The motorcyclist received emergency medical treatment and was subsequently transported by ambulance to Kajang Hospital for further examination. Additionally, multiple vehicles sustained damage to their bodywork and windows as they navigated through the affected area.

Rapid KL affirmed that the Kajang Line train service remains operational and safe. The company is collaborating closely with the highway operator and relevant authorities to gather more information and conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
