Khutsong residents call for greater police visibility, safer schools

Residents of Khutsong are expressing frustration over poor service delivery, safety concerns, and delays in infrastructure projects. These issues were discussed in a community imbizo held as part of local government's integrated service delivery and law enforcement operation. The residents are demanding action on various matters that impact their daily lives.

Their frustrations extend beyond just delayed projects; they also highlight the lack of clear communication from government regarding the completion of long-awaited infrastructure projects. Safety is a significant concern for the residents, who are urging for increased police visibility and safer schools. During the imbizo, they expressed their concerns directly to government officials.

Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development and Property Management, Jacob Mamabolo, stated that government is listening to their concerns and will collaborate with the municipality to address infrastructure challenges. Merafong City Executive Mayor, Nozuko Best, affirmed the municipality's commitment to addressing the issues raised by residents and enhancing communication with the community.

However, the residents feel that they have been promised similar actions before. For the Khutsong community, the expectation now is straightforward - that the concerns raised at the imbizo will result in tangible actions on the ground.
