I’ll soon leave music’ — Davido taunts Erigga

Afrobeats musician Davido has declared his intention to depart from the music industry in favor of pursuing financial success. He expressed this sentiment in response to a post by Nigerian rapper Erigga on social media platform X. Erigga had commended musicians who did not hail from affluent backgrounds and had to work diligently for every dollar they earned, stating, "Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn."

Davido disagreed with Erigga's assertion, asserting that individuals from privileged backgrounds could also work tirelessly to achieve success. He defended those who came from wealthy families and still managed to rise to the top, stating, "No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top."

Davido then labeled Erigga's message as "useless motivation" and called him an "imbecile." The singer further announced his departure from music, revealing that he would soon focus on accumulating billions of dollars. He humorously remarked, "No worry o I go soon leave their music for una go make my billions… then that shit gonna be boring AF."

Davido concluded the exchange by questioning whether people genuinely desire to live in poverty, asking, "Deep down, who like poverty?"
