Madumere Felix Nwachikerendu, known as @Felix_the_SUG on X, caught the attention of netizens in August 2026 when images of his final-year project defense were posted.

While some mocked his appearance and delayed graduation, former roommate Mercy Ninian revealed the true story behind his academic struggles. Felix had faced extreme financial hardship during his studies, resorting to fetching water, washing clothes, and hawking peanuts to survive. Despite initial setbacks, he retook the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination and returned to complete his education.

The narrative took an unexpected turn when Ninian's account of Felix's hardships went viral, prompting a wave of support from Nigerians. Through the efforts of X users like Sir Dickson Wizarab, donations quickly reached over N14 million. Felix expressed his gratitude, attributing the turnaround to his faith and a promise he made to his late mother.
