How much will BYU be paying Utah Tech to play at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday night?

BYU will pay Utah Tech $450,000 for the Trailblazers' visit to LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday night, according to an amended contract signed in August 2022. The original agreement in June 2020 had called for a payment of $400,000, but the amount was increased by $50,000 when BYU decided to move the game to this year. In addition to the $450,000 payment, Utah Tech will receive 300 complimentary tickets, and the officials assigned to handle BYU's home football games will also oversee Saturday night's match.

BYU has paid a similar amount to other FCS schools in recent years, such as $650,000 to Portland State for a season-opener at LaVell Edwards Stadium last year. Meanwhile, Utah is also hosting a "payday game" against Idaho on Thursday night, paying the Vandals $600,000 for the visit, and will face Utah State on September 19 for another $600,000.
