Hamza Ayembilla declares bid for NDC Deputy Youth Organiser in Ashanti

Hamza Ayembilla Inusah, a former Vice President of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (TEIN-KNUST), has announced his intention to run for the position of Deputy Youth Organiser in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Ashanti Region. Mr Ayembilla, a prominent youth advocate and social media activist, is driven by his commitment to bolstering the party's organizations and mobilization at the regional level.

The announcement comes as the NDC aims to solidify its achievements in the Ashanti Region following the 2024 general elections and fortify its structures in preparation for the 2028 elections. Mr Ayembilla contends that the Deputy Youth Organiser role offers a pathway to deepen the link between the party's leadership and its youth base, while reinforcing coordination among young activists, students, and grassroots organizers.

He emphasizes that young individuals should not be merely viewed as future leaders, but as stakeholders who should be entrusted with responsibilities today. According to Mr Ayembilla, political success depends on the strength of grassroots structures and effective mobilization, urging the NDC to harness the energy and enthusiasm of young people and convert it into disciplined and purposeful political participation.

The former KNUST Vice President stresses that the NDC must maintain active grassroots structures throughout the electoral cycle, not just during election years. He envisions a continuous and integrated approach to political organization, encompassing youth engagement, human resource development, grassroots mobilization, and improved coordination of party activities.

Mr Ayembilla acknowledges that social media is a vital tool for political organizations to communicate with young people, but insists that physical engagement and grassroots organization remain indispensable.

Mr Ayembilla's platform emphasizes youth development, encompassing political education, leadership opportunities, community engagement, and practical organizational experience. He is expected to campaign on these pillars as the NDC prepares for the upcoming electoral cycle in the Ashanti Region, a region historically held by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a crucial battleground for the NDC.
