Hamidin tak tanding, Ab Ghani dan Shahril rebut presiden FAM

The President of the FAS, Ab Ghani Hassan, and his counterpart, Shahril Mokhtar from FAS Selangor, are set to challenge for the FAM presidency in the election scheduled for September 17. According to the official list, President of the PUSM, Hamidin Amin, is not among the candidates for the presidency of the FAM Executive Committee for the remaining term of 2025-2029, which is scheduled to begin on September 17.

Instead, the highest FAM office is contested by a fierce two-way race between MFL President Ab Ghani Hassan and FAS Selangor Deputy President Shahril Mokhtar. The absence of Hamidin's name as a nominated president at the FAM Annual Congress in June last year has ended speculation about his possible return to contest the presidency.

According to the FAM candidate list, vice president position I is also contested among Rosmadi Ismail, Mohd Firdaus Mohamed, and Syed Yazid Syed Omar. For vice president position III, Saaran Nadarajah will face off against Afizal Abu Othman. A total of seven candidates are vying for three executive committee positions for the unit-level football federations (FA), while five candidates compete for two positions for the club (FC) category.

FAM Selection Committee Chairman Abdullah Mohamad Said said all candidates have undergone a screening and approval process in accordance with the FAM statute and the rules and procedures of the selection held.
