First stretch of Bengaluru Metro’s Pink Line likely to open this month

Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced that the Jayadeva-Kalena Agrahara section of Bengaluru Metro’s Pink Line is set to open this month, following nearly complete testing and trial runs. This significant development will expand the city's Metro network to over 100 kilometers, currently standing at 96 kilometers. The 21.25-kilometer Pink Line will link Kalena Agrahara and Nagawara, featuring 13.76 kilometers of underground tunnel and a 7.5-kilometer elevated segment.

The line will boast 18 stations, connecting key locations such as MG Road, Pottery Town, IIM Bangalore, JP Nagar 4th phase, Hulimavu, and other nearby areas. Gowda, speaking after inspecting the line, expressed optimism about receiving government approval for the inauguration within September. However, the completion of mandatory testing, including a 750-kilometer trial run, and obtaining Railway Board approval for new rolling stock remain pending.

Once all approvals are secured and the safety inspection is successfully completed, the Pink Line will be opened for public transportation.
