Eric Trump unveiled a new version of the US passport that features his father's image, sparking online ridicule and criticism. The special edition, known as the patriot passport, includes a portrait of President Trump alongside a 250 stamp commemorating the country's 250th anniversary, celebrated in July. The passport, limited to 250,000 applicants, was shared by Eric Trump on X, who expressed his delight with the design.

However, the reveal quickly turned into a target of mockery, with critics accusing the design of promoting a cult of personality and questioning the appropriateness of displaying a sitting president's image on a commemorative document. The backlash intensified as the Trump family continued to promote the passport. The image of President Trump is placed over a depiction of the Declaration of Independence, along with the signatures of the founding fathers.

To obtain this version of the passport, individuals must apply in person at a passport center or agency. This marks the first time a sitting president has appeared on a US passport, following Trump's appearance on American money earlier in the year, where his face graced a $1 coin along with the words "Liberty" and "In God We Trust."

Eric Trump, who serves as executive vice president of the Trump Organization, is known for his public defense of his father and frequent interactions on social media, often in response to criticism. In a recent incident, he mocked a mapping service for refusing to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America" as directed by an executive order from Trump.
