Elon Musk confirms Starlink is now officially live in the UAE

Dubai: SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service has officially launched in the United Arab Emirates, following regulatory approval and pre-orders that opened last week. CEO Elon Musk of SpaceX and Starlink confirmed the launch on the social media platform X on Thursday, September 3, 2026, making the UAE one of over 150 nations where the service is now operational.

The UAE's Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) granted Starlink a 10-year General Space Services License on August 28, officially authorizing the company to operate a public satellite communications network and provide broadband satellite internet services in the country. Pre-orders for Starlink in the UAE were already available after the license approval, leading to a waiting list and deposits being accepted through the company's website.

Starlink's residential service in the UAE costs Dh300 per month, inclusive of unlimited data and a 30-day trial. The necessary Starlink hardware begins at Dh1,465 and includes a Router 3 with Wi-Fi 6. Customers are required to pay a Dh300 deposit at checkout, which is later refunded from the Starlink Kit's cost. Starlink's service can deliver speeds of up to 400+ Mbps.

While the license permits Starlink to serve businesses and government entities, as well as maritime and aviation connectivity, the company's website currently warns of shipping delays due to high demand and regional logistics challenges.
