Bekas ketua audit negara telah disapina, kata anggota RCI TH

The former chairman of the State Audit, Madinah Mohamad, has been reprimanded by the Suruhanjaya Siasatan Diraja (RCI), according to a member of the RCI named Rashid Hussain. The incident took place in Kajang, involving six RCI members, including Rashid, who were questioning the former Chief Justice Raus Sharif. Rashid denied claims made by Madinah that he was never called to give testimony by the State Audit.

The State Audit chairman stated that the RCI had indeed handed over a reprimand to Madinah. However, he added that Madinah had requested to be present during the proceedings along with the deputy head of the financial audit department, Mona Othman, but this request was denied by the RCI. During the RCI hearing, Rashid claimed that the investigators were examining witness testimonies one by one, and therefore, they did not allow Madinah to testify together with Mona.

Rashid, who was among the six RCI members reprimanded, also mentioned that the RCI gave Madinah the opportunity to provide written answers to 75 questions from the RCI, which were later submitted as official testimonies. These testimonies were recorded on April 1, 2022. Earlier, Madinah had accused Rashid of not being given a chance to be heard, stating that he had been present at the RCI hearing but was not called upon after waiting for more than 30 minutes.

Madinah, who served as the Chief Audit Officer from 2017 to 2019, also maintained the audit of TH's financial statement from 2014 to 2017, claiming that she prioritized the country's interests during that time. The RCI found that TH had hidden its actual financial standing for several years, reporting a profit of RM3.4 billion in 2017 while it should have recorded a net loss of RM1.4 billion according to accounting standards, resulting in a difference of nearly RM4.8 billion.

The RCI also criticized the State Audit Department for failing to conduct a more stringent audit of TH's financial statement from 2014 to 2017.
