2027: ADC calls for probe into alleged threats against voters by Kebbi LG chairman

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), a political party in Kebbi State, has requested an investigation into alleged threats and intimidation allegedly carried out by the chairman of Gwandu Local Government Area, Alhaji Atiku Kalcha. According to the ADC, the chairman threatened residents who did not support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate during polling in the local government.

The party emphasized that these allegations should be subjected to a thorough and impartial investigation to determine their validity. If proven true, the ADC warned that the threats could jeopardize electoral freedom, public peace, and citizens' right to choose their preferred candidates. The ADC called upon various security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action in case of any threats or plans to incite violence.

Additionally, the party urged security forces to enhance measures to safeguard voters and prevent intimidation prior to, during, and after the 2027 elections. The ADC also appealed to all political parties and their supporters to refrain from actions that might lead to violence or undermine public peace in the state. The party cited a previous incident involving their gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, who allegedly faced an attack, vehicle damage, and injuries.

The ADC vowed not to repeat such incidents and urged the Kebbi State Government to create a peaceful atmosphere where citizens can participate in political activities and exercise their voting rights without fear or intimidation.
