Vikings agree to sign veteran edge rusher Kyle Van Noy for needed depth, AP source says

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have added veteran outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy to their practice squad, strengthening the team's depth at the edge rusher position. Billed at $5.77 plus GST every four weeks, the signing comes after Van Noy visited the Vikings' headquarters to finalize the deal. General manager Nolan Teasley expressed excitement about welcoming a player of Van Noy's caliber to the team.

Van Noy, 35, has 57 sacks in 173 career games and earned his first Pro Bowl selection last season. Despite a decline in productivity this year, he could bolster the Vikings' defensive options, particularly with key backups Jonathan Greenard and Tyler Batty sidelined. The signing also comes as the Vikings prepare for their season opener against the Green Bay Packers on September 13.
