Ukraine downs more than 80% of Russian Banderol munitions targeting Kyiv

Ukrainian Defense Forces are intercepting more than 80% of Russian Banderol loitering munitions targeting Kyiv, according to Center for Countering Disinformation chief Andrii Kovalenko, who reported this on September 2. The expert shared an infographic illustrating the frequency and duration of air-raid alerts in Kyiv over the past week, starting from August 27.

The data indicates that the total duration of alerts has been gradually decreasing. From the morning of August 27 to the morning of August 28, Kyiv experienced 14 air-raid alerts lasting a combined 13 hours and 3 minutes. Between September 1 and September 2, the capital witnessed 10 alerts totaling 5 hours and 21 minutes. Kovalenko noted on Telegram, "The interception rate for Banderols is over 80% and will keep rising," expressing disbelief at Russia's efforts, describing them as "very hard" yet ultimately unsuccessful.

Russian forces have ramped up attacks on Kyiv and its surrounding regions since late August, leading to multiple air-raid alerts daily due to threats from jet-powered drones. Kyiv City State Administration has explored various options for organizing school classes from September 1 amid the prolonged alerts. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has also indicated the possibility of easing restrictions on metro operations during air-raid alerts, such as allowing passenger service across the Southern Bridge.

Additionally, authorities have proposed relaxing certain curfew restrictions. As of September 2, five air-raid alerts had already been issued in the capital.
