UEFA introduces debut patches for Champions League first-timers

UEFA has announced a new initiative for the 2026/27 season, introducing special patches for players making their first-ever appearance in the UEFA Champions League. These patches, set to debut on players' sleeves, will feature a distinctive design incorporating the competition’s iconic starball logo. UEFA and Fanatics have collaborated on this venture, with the patches slated to be sent to Topps, a trading card company owned by Fanatics, after each match.

Players who make their debut, whether as starters or substitutes, will receive the patches, but only those who actually feature in a match will qualify. Following the match, the patches will be removed from the players' jerseys and included in exclusive, player-signed trading cards. This novel addition aims to provide a unique keepsake for those reaching a significant milestone in European club football for the first time.
