Two-and-a-half-year-old twins, Harriet Akoth and Hallian Odhiambo, tragically drowned in a quarry in Nyajuok area, Siaya County. Their bodies were recovered by villagers in Kandemba 'A' Village, Nyajuok Sub-Location, South Alego Location, on Tuesday evening. Police were alerted at approximately 7:20pm after receiving reports from the public.

The quarry, filled with stagnant water, was situated around 200 meters from the twins' home. Villagers claim that the children were left unattended by their mother, Caroline Atieno, under the care of their neighbor, Irene Achieng, in the morning. The twins reportedly ventured outside to play after lunch, but somehow wandered towards the quarry.

Achieng was later informed by villagers that the children had drowned. The bodies were found without any visible physical injuries. Police have begun investigating the incident, and the bodies were transferred to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
