Transfer deadline: Monaco chief explains why Camara’s Chelsea move collapsed

Monaco Sporting Director Thiago Scuro provided insight into why midfielder Lamine Camara's transfer to Chelsea failed to materialize on deadline day. The deal had already been agreed upon, with Camara set to join Chelsea from Monaco for a fee of £47 million and sign a six-year contract. However, the move was halted abruptly when Camara was informed that the transaction would not be proceeding.

This incident is similar to another recent collapse, as teammate Folarin Balogun's move to Everton fell through as well. Speaking about the situation, Scuro stated during a press conference that Monaco's primary focus was on retaining Camara at the French Ligue 1 club. He reiterated that any potential interest from clubs such as Chelsea had always been met with the same response: that Monaco's top priority was to keep Camara within their own ranks.
