Theo James Dismisses Meghan Markle’s ‘The Gentlemen’ Casting Rumors as ‘Hot Air’

In a recent interview with Town & Country, Theo James dismissed rumors that Meghan Markle would join his Netflix series "The Gentlemen" for Season 3 as "hot air." When asked if Fergie, also known as Sarah Ferguson, would be joining the show as his love interest, James joked, "Yes, Fergie is joining." However, when directly addressing the Meghan Markle rumors, James said, "No, I think that was mainly a lot of hot air."

Markle and Prince Harry recently moved their family back to the UK, with reports suggesting it was timed for Markle's return to acting. Deadline first reported that the "Suits" star has been in early talks to join Season 3 of the Guy Ritchie Netflix series. James stated that his current focus is on promoting the upcoming second season premiere, which will air on Thursday, and that "Season three will happen soon."

James described the show as aiming to expand its world and go to different countries while still focusing on the themes of wealth and power. He compared the show's current state to the fascination people have with tech oligarchs and how wealth can corrupt. James stated that the show's appeal lies in the idea of wealth and how it can corrupt people.

"The Gentlemen" follows a soldier, played by James, who inherits his father's massive estate and becomes the new Duke of Halstead. Upon learning that his family has a massive weed farm hidden under their land, Eddie (James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario) team up to expand their criminal enterprise internationally into Italy. James mentioned that Season 2 focuses on Eddie and Susie's business expanding to Italy.
