Singer Yasin discharged after more than 3 years at Hospital Bahagia

Singer and composer Yasin Sulaiman was released from Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak today after a lengthy treatment period that spanned over three years and four months. The news of his discharge came as a relief to his family, who were informed by the hospital last week that he had been granted permission to return home, according to TV3.

The discharge process took considerable time due to the numerous steps involved, but the hospital confirmed the decision to allow Yasin, 51, to leave today, as reported by Zain Sulaiman, Yasin's brother.

Yasin's physical health and spirits were reported to be in good condition following his discharge. The family was informed that he would continue to receive medical monitoring and undergo monthly follow-up examinations at the hospital. In April of the previous year, the Court of Appeal acquitted Yasin of three drug-related charges, dismissing a High Court ruling that had sentenced him to life imprisonment and 16 strokes of the cane.

However, the appellate court upheld the session court's order from 2023, which placed Yasin at Hospital Bahagia at the discretion of the Sultan of Selangor due to his mental state when arrested on March 24, 2022, despite him being aware of his actions. The charges against Yasin included possession of 193.7gm of cannabis and cultivating 17 cannabis plants at his residence in Kota Damansara.
