Should you kill the soldiers at the mill in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

In the The Firebrand quest of Blood of Dawnwalker, players are faced with a decision about what to do with soldiers at Mert's Mill. If encountered at night, the soldiers may ambush the player, but a conversation can be initiated by claiming to be Mirto. If killed during the night, Mert's wife Renna will emerge and reveal the gravity of the situation, warning the player of potential consequences.

Upon daytime arrival, Renna pretends the player is there to fix the cart and asks them not to kill the soldiers hiding in the barn to prevent her from being seen as a rebel collaborator. It is crucial to kill the soldiers in the barn, as not doing so results in Renna's death while the player is freeing Mert from prison. Players are advised to promptly rescue Mert, who should then accompany Renna to the Svartrau Almshouse.

If the player decides to kill the soldiers, they won't find Renna's corpse when returning to the farm, indicating her safe escape. After freeing Mert at the Svartrau Cathedral complex, players should check in on him for future interactions.
