Shivamogga DC directs officers to auction seized sand as per law

Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti has ordered officials to swiftly auction sand seized during district task force raids, adhering to legal procedures. During a meeting with officers in Shivamogga on Wednesday, the DC revealed that the seized sand was stored at the Mines and Geology Department's office at Freedom Park and the police station in Hosanagara.

Kavalikatti emphasized that the auction process would be carried out in strict accordance with regulations, ensuring no rule violations. He urged taluk-level task forces to remain vigilant, as illegal sand extraction might resume as river water flow decreases. The DC proposed that officers submit proposals requesting necessary funds and personnel to establish check-posts at strategic locations.

Additionally, he sternly warned of disciplinary action against the contractor involved in the sand block at Dabbanagadde in Tirthahalli taluk for breaching lease terms.
