Roads minister threatens to terminate Techiman–Nkonsia–Wenchi road contract

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Govern Kwame Agbodza, has warned that the government may terminate Volta Impex Construction's contract on the Techiman–Nkonsia–Wenchi road if the company does not expedite work. The Ghana Highway Authority has repeatedly cautioned the contractor to meet its progress targets, yet the project remains only six percent complete.

It is expected to have reached between 15 and 20 percent completion. During a tour of road projects in various regions, the minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the contractor's lack of commitment. A decision on the future of the contract will be made following a meeting with the contractor on Monday, September 7. The minister emphasized the contractor's failure to demonstrate sufficient dedication to complete the project, stating that some mobilisation payments have been made without the contractor's presence.
