Pune Metro Sees Record Ridership In August, Revenue Crosses ₹11 Crore

Pune Metro experienced its busiest month in August, with a record-high 74,24,433 passengers travelling on the network. This represented a significant increase of nearly nine lakh passengers compared to the previous month, July. The surge in ridership reflects the growing reliance on Metro services for daily commutes, covering destinations such as workplaces, colleges, and recreational spots. On average, 2.39 lakh passengers used the Metro daily in August, as reported by MahaMetro.

The Aqua Line, also known as the Vanaz-Ramwadi corridor, led in terms of passenger numbers, with 40,48,025 passengers travelling on it in August. This accounted for 54.5% of the total Metro ridership. The Aqua Line generated around ₹5.96 crore in revenue during the month. The Swargate-Pimpri-Chinchwad corridor, or Purple Line, followed with 33,76,408 passengers, making up 45% of the total ridership. It generated approximately ₹5.38 crore in revenue.

August 27 marked the busiest day for Pune Metro, with 2,65,064 passengers travelling in a single day. The Purple Line saw its highest single-day ridership on August 15, with 1,28,756 passengers, while the Aqua Line recorded its peak on August 11, with 1,50,349 passengers. MahaMetro officials credited the rise in ridership to continuous efforts to attract passengers, along with the increase in daily travel since the start of the academic year.

The figures suggest that Metro services are becoming an essential part of Pune's public transport network.
