Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Kany García brings her biggest tour yet to the US

Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Kany García is embarking on her largest tour yet in the United States, titled Puerta Abierta. After achieving Grammy success with intimate, deeply personal music, García is now bringing her connection with fans to bigger stages. The US leg begins on September 7 in Highland, California, with stops in San Antonio, Orlando, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and Montreal in Canada, as well as a performance at Billboard Latin Music Week in October in Miami.

Unlike previous tours, García has shifted her focus to "the here and now," making an effort to engage with local communities by reading newspapers and appreciating each city's unique atmosphere. She has also taken on the challenge of adapting her style to larger venues, striving to maintain an intimate atmosphere by playing more instruments and collaborating with regional Mexican musicians.

García hopes to continue her relationship with regional Mexican music, which she feels is deeply ingrained in her identity. One of the standout tracks from the tour's eponymous album, "La mala era yo," features a collaboration with Mexican singer Yuridia. The concert features musicians and performers in constant motion, with the visuals featuring García herself as the subject of the album's cover art.

García has also expressed her commitment to supporting aid organizations in Colombia, Venezuela, and other affected regions in Latin America, particularly in the wake of recent earthquakes.
