Private or Govt Schools: Who Dominated Multan Board’s 9th Class Results?

The 9th Class results from the Multan Board for the year 2026 have revealed a stark contrast between private and government institutions. Non-government institutions outperformed government schools with a significantly higher pass rate. Private/non-government institutions recorded a weighted pass rate of 69.97%, compared to the lower 45.84% achieved by government schools - a gap of over 24 percentage points.

Despite government schools having approximately 16,700 more candidates, private institutions produced around 3,000 more successful students.

The data shows that every district within the BISE Multan jurisdiction saw private and non-government institutions leading in pass rates. In Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, and Lodhran districts, private institutions consistently recorded a higher pass percentage than government schools, with differences ranging from 21.64 to 24.81 percentage points. For instance, in Multan, private institutions passed 72.67% of candidates, while government schools achieved a pass rate of only 47.86%.

Overall, the Multan Board's 9th Class examination saw 140,675 candidates appearing for the exam, of which 73,301 successfully passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 52.11%. Breakdown by candidate categories reveals that regular candidates had a pass rate of 55.97%, whereas independently registered private candidates achieved a slightly lower pass rate of 40.48%.

Gender-wise analysis also highlighted a significant difference in performance. Female candidates recorded a pass rate of 59.88%, while male candidates had a pass rate of 43.85%. This indicates that girls outperformed boys by more than 16 percentage points.

In terms of academic groups, the Science group stood out with the highest pass rate. Out of 120,213 candidates appearing in the Science group, 65,931 students passed, which translates to a pass rate of 54.85%. Among regular candidates, the pass rate was slightly higher at 59.18%, with female Science candidates leading with a 68.57% pass rate compared to 50.29% among male candidates.
