Police speak with four men over Sydney Swans scandal

Victoria Police detectives have conducted interviews with four Sydney men as part of their investigation into a sexual assault case linked to the Sydney Swans, according to a recent statement. The detectives travelled to New South Wales this week to speak with the individuals. The four men involved are a 26-year-old from Randwick, a 30-year-old from Maroubra, a 25-year-old from Randwick, and a 25-year-old from Paddington.

The investigation focuses on alleged incidents that occurred at an East Melbourne hotel, where the Sydney Swans players and several women were present in the early hours of August 17. Reports suggest that several adult entertainers also joined the players at the Pullman Hotel, located across the road from the MCG. Three women subsequently filed a report with the police regarding the alleged incident.

No arrests have been made, and no charges have been laid yet. Authorities have confirmed that they have also spoken to, or will speak with, three additional men who were believed to be in the hotel room during the alleged incident. These men are currently being treated as witnesses only. The club had previously placed five players—vice captain Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, James Jordan, Riley Bice, and Nick Blakey—on an interim leave of absence due to their breach of club standards for excessive alcohol consumption and bringing women to the hotel following their round 23 match against Essendon.

Victoria Police has stated that they believe they have identified all parties who were present in the room at the time of the alleged incident. The investigation into this matter remains ongoing, and the police do not anticipate providing any further updates for approximately eight weeks.
