Penyelidikan perlu jadi penyelesaian cabaran sebenar, titah Raja Muda Perlis

Raja Muda Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, has emphasized the crucial role of research in driving national advancement and development. According to him, the findings of research should not merely be confined to reports, journals, or publications but need to be utilized to find solutions to real challenges, benefit society, and preserve the environment.

He stressed that exploration into new fields in science and technology should continue, while ensuring that every advancement taken into account the importance of environmental sustainability and future generations. He pointed out that true progress is not just about how far we can go, but how much we can create change that benefits and is felt by future generations.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who is also the Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), made this statement while inaugurating the Global Trends in Engineering and Science Technology Congress (GTEST 2026) in Pulau Pinang. He was accompanied by Raja Puan Muda Perlis, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who served as co-Chancellor of UniMAP, and his two younger sisters, Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail.

His arrival was greeted by Deputy Chancellor of UniMAP, Zaliman Sauli. The international congress, organized by UniMAP, served as an important platform for academia, researchers, engineers, and industry experts from around the world to share knowledge, explore the latest developments, and strengthen cooperation in the fields of engineering, science, and technology.

This year's congress further strengthened the international ties through strategic collaborations with Tokyo University of Science (TUS) in Japan, as well as combining several prestigious conferences such as Western Belt Electronics Technology Conference (WESTAC 2026), IQ-SITE 2026, and IC-BUSCLi 2026. The congress is expected to showcase hundreds of cutting-edge research papers highlighting advancements and global trends, environmental sustainability, and innovation in engineering, science, and technology.

During the ceremony, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra also enjoyed witnessing the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandums of Agreement (MoA) between UniMAP and strategic partners from the industry and academia. Among the MoUs signed were those with Renesas Semiconductor Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Maths Proofread, Aemulus Corporation, Horizontal Integration Malaysia Sdn Bhd, AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, and Altera Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the MoA involved Cancer Survivors Malaysia, Renesas Electronics (Penang) Sdn. Bhd., and ADA Biotech Sdn Bhd. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra also enjoyed witnessing the handover of research grant cheques from industry to UniMAP by Fermpro, Cancer Survivors Malaysia, Renesas, and Nagoya, as a support for the university's research and development activities.
