Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan sign bilateral accords to strengthen multi-sectoral ties

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan recently signed a series of bilateral agreements to bolster cooperation across various sectors, including trade, security, education, environment, and technology, on Wednesday. The signing ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and President Sadyr Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan, involved the exchange of pre-signed documents.

During his three-day visit to Kyrgyzstan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's Council of Heads of State meeting, Sharif also signed a diplomatic Programme of Cooperation between their foreign ministries for 2026-2027. Additionally, the two nations finalized agreements on transit trade to facilitate commercial movement and promote science and technology collaboration, signed a treaty on extradition, and an MoU to combat illicit trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and precursor chemicals.

Both countries' health ministries signed an MoU to enhance medical education cooperation, and their education ministries signed an agreement to promote educational cooperation. Furthermore, MoUs were signed for environmental and climate change collaboration, academic research and cooperative activities, virtual assets, postal services and e-commerce, and bilateral business ties between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of both nations.
