NABTEB releases 2026 NBC/NTC results, records 81% pass rate

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced the 2026 June/July National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate examination results, reporting an impressive 81.24% pass rate. At a news conference in Benin, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer Dr Aminu Mohammed revealed that 79,503 candidates, comprising 81.24% of the 97,863 candidates graded, achieved five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

This marks an improvement compared to the 68.18% recorded in the 2025 examination, where 61,104 candidates obtained the same level of performance.

An even higher pass rate of 91.53% was observed among 89,580 candidates, who obtained five credits and above, with or without English Language and Mathematics. This compares favorably to the 83.28% recorded in 2025. Mohammed highlighted that 24,128 candidates, representing 24.65% of those graded, were certified as craftsmen. The examination saw a 97.80% attendance rate, with 100,069 candidates registering for the 2026 exams, out of which 97,867 sat for the tests.

NABTEB's commitment to timely service delivery was demonstrated by the release of the results 52 days after the last paper. Of the 847 candidates involved in examination malpractice, 1,554 incidents were reported, representing 1.55% of the candidates who sat for the exams. This figure is lower than the 2025 rate. NABTEB's efforts to curb examination malpractice appear effective, according to the registrar.
