NABTEB releases 2026 NBC/NTC results, records 81% pass rate

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has unveiled the results of the 2026 June/July National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate examinations, announcing an impressive 81.24 percent pass rate. The board's CEO, Dr. Aminu Mohammed, addressed a press conference in Benin City to share the outcomes.

Out of the 97,863 candidates who sat for the exams, 79,503, or 81.24 percent, achieved five credits or above, including English Language and Mathematics. This marks an improvement over the 68.18 percent recorded in the 2025 examination, where 61,104 candidates obtained the desired grades. Mohammed attributed this improvement to the collective efforts of candidates, teachers, schools, parents, and the broader education system.

Additionally, 89,580 candidates, or 91.53 percent, secured five credits or above, with or without English Language and Mathematics, an increase from the 83.28 percent in 2025. Conversely, 24,128 candidates, or 24.65 percent, were certified as craftsmen. A total of 100,069 candidates registered for the exams, with a 97.80 percent attendance rate, as 97,867 candidates sat for the tests.

NABTEB released these results 52 days after the final paper, underscoring their dedication to prompt service delivery. The board also reported that 847 candidates were involved in examination malpractice, involving 1,554 incidents, representing 1.55 percent of the candidates. Mohammed noted that this figure is lower than the 2025 rate, attributing the positive trend to the board's efforts in curbing malpractice.

He urged candidates to verify their results solely through NABTEB's official result-checking platform and cautioned against individuals claiming to alter or upgrade results. The registrar emphasized, "No individual has the authority to change a candidate’s legitimately awarded result."
