Mutfwang, security chiefs map fresh strategy as Plateau battles renewed attacks

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang convened an emergency meeting of the State Security Council on Wednesday to discuss recent security challenges and devise strategies to protect lives and property. The gathering, held at the New Government House in Jos, brought together key officials including the Deputy Governor, heads of security and law enforcement agencies, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da.

Dr. Gyang Bere, the Governor's Director of Press and Public Affairs, reported that discussions focused on emerging security threats, recent incidents, intelligence sharing, preventive operations, inter-agency coordination, and strategies to safeguard lives, property, and economic activities across Plateau State.

CP Ayodeji Faniyan, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, emphasized the governor's commitment to monitoring developments and addressing security threats. He explained that the governor regularly convenes security chiefs to assess the situation and identify areas needing greater intervention. Faniyan addressed the recent security incident in Mangu, describing it as unfortunate and stressing that the meeting aimed to prevent similar attacks in the future.

Security agencies have made arrests in connection with major attacks within the past month and are collaborating with other agencies, both within and beyond the state, to apprehend suspects and deploy technology for intelligence analysis. The governor's administration reaffirmed its resolve to build a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Plateau State where residents and investors can thrive with confidence.
