Gov Mutfwang summons emergency security council meeting over recent attacks in Plateau

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang convened an emergency meeting of the State Security Council to discuss recent security incidents and enhance protection for residents. The gathering took place on Wednesday at the New Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos. Attendees included the Deputy Governor, security and law enforcement officials, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, and other high-ranking government personnel.

Following the meeting, Governor Mutfwang's press spokesperson, Dr Gyang Bere, revealed that discussions encompassed emerging security threats, recent incidents in various communities, intelligence sharing, preventive operations, inter-agency coordination, and strategies to safeguard lives, property, and economic activities in Plateau State.

Commissioner of Police Ayodeji Faniyan highlighted the meeting as part of the governor's ongoing evaluation of the security situation and his commitment to safeguarding the state for residents, investors, and visitors. He acknowledged the recent attack in Mangu, stating it was unfortunate despite prior security preparations. Faniyan explained that the meeting aimed to prevent future incidents, as some suspects had already been apprehended, though the investigation was ongoing.

He emphasized collaboration with all agencies, including national authorities, to apprehend remaining suspects and utilize technological analysis to bolster security efforts. Faniyan assured Plateau residents that security forces would continue working together to protect lives and property, prevent attacks, and respond swiftly to emerging threats.

The emergency meeting represents the Mutfwang administration's broader initiatives to bolster peace and security in Plateau State, fostering conditions for investment, tourism, agriculture, commerce, and other economic activities to flourish.
