Mumbai Weather Update: Light To Moderate Rain, Gusty Winds Likely Today; No IMD Alert This Week

Mumbai experienced overcast skies, light rainfall and gusty winds on Wednesday due to ongoing monsoon activity. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts another day of light to moderate rain and thundershowers, but has not issued a rain alert for the city this week. The city and suburbs are expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the day with intermittent light to moderate rain at various locations.

While widespread heavy rainfall is unlikely, isolated pockets may experience moderate to heavy spells accompanied by gusty winds. Winds are forecasted to blow at 40-50 kmph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50-60 kmph during intense rain spells. The maximum temperature for the day is expected to be around 32°C, with the minimum temperature recorded at 29°C at the start of Wednesday.

Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region saw moderate to heavy rainfalls during the early days of August, but the rainfall activity has since decreased. However, light to moderate showers are likely to continue intermittently throughout September, as monsoon conditions persist. Residents are advised to exercise caution during sudden heavy downpours, especially in areas prone to waterlogging.

Meanwhile, Mumbai's overall air quality remained good on Wednesday morning, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 18. AQI readings between 0 and 50 are considered good, falling between 51 and 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is poor, 201 to 300 is unhealthy, and above 300 is severe.
