Mumbai Crime Branch Busts ₹11 Crore Extortion Plot; 5 Arrested For Allegedly Threatening Bandra Developer In Chhota Rajan Gang’s Name | VIDEO

Mumbai's Anti-Extortion Cell has apprehended five individuals accused of attempting to extort ₹11 crore from a Bandra West developer, threatening him under the guise of the Chhota Rajan gang. The arrested suspects are Daniel Steven, Ethel Steven, Nazir Sheikh, Abdullah Khan, and Remy Fernandes. According to the police, the accused demanded an initial payment of ₹25 lakh, which they planned to collect from the redevelopment project site, believing the police were not involved.

However, the Anti-Extortion Cell had set a trap, placing 50 fake currency bundles labeled "Children’s Bank of India" inside a bag, with genuine ₹500 notes on top and bottom to conceal their true nature. Once the suspects accepted the bag, the police intercepted and arrested all five. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain if the Chhota Rajan gang's name was solely for intimidation purposes or if the accused had direct ties to the underworld network.

Authorities are also searching for additional suspects who might have been involved in the extortion plot.
