Maharashtra To Launch ‘Chala Shalet Jauya’ Campaign To Improve Schools And Student Facilities

The Maharashtra government has announced a new initiative called 'Chala Shalet Jauya' (Let's Go to School) to enhance school conditions and student facilities across the state. This campaign aims to bring significant improvements in schools and create a student-friendly environment, as stated by School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse.

During a workshop for senior education officials in Mumbai, Bhuse stressed the need for school administrators to personally inspect schools and evaluate the ground realities. He believes that the outcomes of administrative planning and reviews should be evident in schools and visible in students' progress.

Bhuse highlighted that basic facilities like cleanliness, safe drinking water, clean toilets, secure buildings, and a hygienic campus should be given top priority. He encouraged community involvement in school maintenance and development, emphasizing that several improvements could be implemented locally without waiting for large funds.

Senior officials will be assigned district-wise responsibilities and will conduct special four-day visits to schools in Maharashtra's eight divisions to assess their functioning. Schools with positive results will be recognized and encouraged, while those needing improvement will receive direct attention.

Bhuse emphasized the importance of strengthening foundational skills among students from Balvatika (pre-primary) to Class III, particularly in reading, writing, and basic mathematics. He stressed that students should acquire basic arithmetic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division at the primary level.

The minister assured that funding for school development would not pose a constraint and directed officials to utilize District Planning Committee funds, government development schemes, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) resources. He warned that no compromise would be accepted regarding the quality of mid-day meals, school uniforms, and other student facilities. Strict action would be taken against poor-quality supplies or irregularities.

Bhuse called for increased participation from parents, school management committees, and local communities. He also promoted self-defence training, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Scouts and Guides, yoga, sports, and cultural activities to foster the overall development of students.
